Frequently asked questions
What framework does the AI Readiness Assessment use?
The assessment is aligned to DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, and leading digital maturity frameworks, applied through an AI-readiness lens. It evaluates 7 pillars -- Governance for AI, Data Quality for AI, Architecture for AI, Analytics & Decisioning, Security & Compliance, Operating Model, and AI Readiness -- using a 5-point scale from 'Not Implemented' to 'Optimised'. Foundational pillars carry higher weights, and gating rules prevent inflated scores when critical capabilities are underdeveloped.
How are AI readiness scores calculated?
Each question is scored 1-5 and weighted by its criticality within its pillar. Pillar scores are then combined using a fixed weighting model (Governance 20%, Quality 15%, Architecture 15%, Analytics 15%, Security 15%, Operating Model 10%, AI Readiness 10%). Four gating rules can lower your overall score if foundational pillars -- like Governance or Security -- fall below key thresholds. This prevents organisations from showing a healthy AI readiness score while having critical gaps underneath.
Which industries does the benchmarking cover?
Benchmarks are available for: Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Retail & eCommerce, Technology, Telecommunications, Government & Public Sector, Energy & Utilities, Logistics, and Education. If your industry is not listed, your results are compared against a General Industry baseline derived from a cross-sector sample of over 1,000 organisations.
Where does the benchmark data come from?
Our initial benchmarks are derived from published data-maturity research, DAMA community surveys, and industry analyst reports. They represent established consensus figures for each sector. As the DM360 user base grows, we will replace these with live benchmarks recalculated from anonymised assessment results, with a minimum sample size of 10 organisations per sector to ensure statistical validity.
How long does the AI Readiness Assessment take?
The free 21-question AI Readiness Scorecard takes approximately 6-10 minutes. The full 49-question AI Readiness Assessment takes around 25-30 minutes. After clicking Start, you choose your perspective -- Data & Technology, Financial & Risk, or Business & Strategy -- before the questions begin. Both can be paused and resumed -- your progress is saved automatically.
Who should complete the AI Readiness Assessment?
The assessment is available in three role-based perspectives, so it is not limited to data specialists. The Data & Technology perspective is designed for CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, and Data Architects. The Financial & Risk perspective frames every question around ROI, cost, and regulatory exposure -- ideal for CFOs, CROs, and Finance Directors. The Business & Strategy perspective focuses on strategic outcomes, competitive advantage, and agility -- suited for CEOs, COOs, MDs, and Board Members. The scoring framework is identical across all three -- only the question language changes. For the most accurate results, we recommend involving two or three stakeholders from different perspectives and comparing their responses.
What are team AI readiness packs?
Team packs allow a company to assess multiple stakeholders in one order. An admin receives a dashboard link to invite respondents via magic links -- no accounts needed. Each respondent gets their own individual AI Readiness PDF report. An aggregated organisation report is generated once 3 or more respondents complete the assessment, showing cross-respondent consensus, perspective comparison, and organisation-level AI readiness. Contact us for team pricing.
How do magic-link invites work?
After a team pack is activated, the admin visits their dashboard and enters each respondent's name, email, and preferred perspective. The system sends a unique, secure link to each respondent. Clicking the link takes them straight into the AI Readiness Assessment -- no login or signup required. Each link is single-use and expires with the order (90 days).
What does the full AI Readiness report include?
The full AI Readiness report is a ~30-page executive diagnostic PDF. It includes: an executive summary, your AI readiness score across all 49 capabilities, a capability heatmap, industry benchmark comparison, financial impact estimation of your readiness gaps, risk exposure analysis across five business risk categories, a pillar-by-pillar AI readiness breakdown, and a strategic improvement priority index. The report is generated immediately and emailed to you as an attachment.
What happens in the free strategy consultation?
After purchasing the AI Readiness report, you receive a complimentary 30-minute strategy consultation with a DM360 consultant. During the session, we review your report findings, discuss your organisation's specific context, and deliver a tailored 12-Month AI Readiness Roadmap. This roadmap is not included in the automated report -- it is prepared and presented during the consultation. To prepare, we ask that you share the report ahead of time and identify your top 2-3 AI and data challenges.
How is my assessment data handled?
Your assessment responses and report data are stored securely on Microsoft Azure infrastructure (South Africa North region where available). We do not sell or share individual assessment data with third parties. Aggregated, anonymised data may be used to improve industry benchmark accuracy over time. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting info@dm360.co.za.
Can I take the AI Readiness Assessment more than once?
Yes. The free AI Readiness Scorecard can be taken as many times as you like -- useful for tracking progress over time or assessing different business units. Each full AI Readiness Assessment report is a separate once-off purchase (R45 800) and generates a new full diagnostic PDF. There is no subscription -- you only pay when you need a new report.
